BPH FAQs

Enlarged Prostate

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as “enlarged prostate” occurs with age. By age 70, 90% of men can expect to have some symptoms of BPH. Half of all men over 60 may also experience symptoms.

While not life-threatening, BPH can take a toll on your quality of life, causing symptoms such as:

• Urgency to urinate

• Frequent urination (especially at night)

• Difficulty or inability to urinate

• Weak urine stream

• Discomfort while urinating

• A sensation of not being able to empty your bladder

• Erectile dysfunction (ED)

While most men do not want to risk the side effects of traditional surgery to treat BPH, they are often happy to learn that there is another option: the doctors at CiC can perform a minimally-invasive  procedure called Prostate Artery Embolism (PAE) to reduce or eliminate BPH symptoms.

Varicose Veins

Men get varicose veins, too, but many see them as only a cosmetic concern and therefore don’t seek treatment. But varicose veins can be a sign of more serious vein disease. Varicose veins in men, don’t just occur on their legs. Sometimes they occur in the testes and are called varicoceles. They can cause pain, testicular shrinkage, and even infertility. Our vein specialists are familiar with all types of vein disease and can make a thorough assessment of your vascular health and provide proper treatment, including minimally-invasive procedures, to improve blood circulation throughout your body.
